Genovese basil is a variety of sweet basil that has beautiful deep green coloured leaves and light green coloured stems. Basil is a mucilaginous seed meaning it forms a sack around each seed when it comes into contact with moisture. The microgreen itself has a more intense basil flavour than its mature counterpart.
It can be used in cooking, for salads, or as a side garnish.
